Social Anxiety Disorders - Lose the Anxiety and Become Social Again

People that have social anxiety disorder find it difficult to cope with many everyday situations. They will feel very overwhelmed by something as simple as going to the supermarket. The feelings one may experience can be very intense to the extent that they can cause a fear of going out in public.

The symptoms and reactions of social anxiety disorder will vary from person to person. In one extreme a person may keep themselves confined to their home for fear of going out while others may experience anxiety in certain social situations but will still go ahead with them.

The fear that they have may include a fear of being judged by other people, fear that they may make a mistake and everyone will notice, the fear of having everyone's attention on them or the fear of humiliating or embarrassing themselves in front of people. People with social anxiety disorder generally have low self esteem and think that other people are much more capable than they are in similar situations.

Anxiety is a completely normal response of the body when a person faces a situation that they may be uncomfortable with. People with social anxiety disorder however have a completely different level of anxiety than post people and in fact their anxiety will seem quite irrational to most people.

The feelings that a person has though are very real to them and are something that they are not able to control. Some sufferers may be anxious for days or even weeks leading up to a social event that they know they cannot avoid.
